ABOUT THE ARTIST

Artist Statement

My process is best explained by the Taoist concept of "wu wei,” which translates as "doing without doing" – action arises from an empty mind without preconception or agenda. This approach often means going through chaos to create harmony out of patterns, space, colors, and motion. As my composition develops more consciously, it retains the feel of spontaneity, intuitive awareness, and the initial moment. A work starts without any inkling of outcome; its development is a fascinating journey of discovery, a magical thread that I pull every day.

I work on an iPad Pro with an Apple pencil.  I create my own brushes based on photographs I take of interesting shapes encountered during my walks.  I may also use superimposed pictures as a ground layer to create texture or atmosphere.

The essence and mystery of our world is what I hope these works may bring to your home, adding serenity or playfulness in your everyday life amid the increasing turmoil of contemporary life.

"What is very important for me is when I work without working….when I walk, when I do nothing, when I eat."      Joan Miro
